Amaravati, March 24 (NationPress) The ‘Zero Poverty– P4’ initiative, which is set to be introduced by the Andhra Pradesh government on the Telugu New Year Ugadi, aims to extend a helping hand, as stated by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Monday.
While presiding over a review meeting at the state Secretariat, he mentioned that this program is designed to encourage the affluent to assist the underprivileged segments of society.
He emphasized that anyone can voluntarily participate, and instructed officials not to pressure anyone into contributing. The Chief Minister also highlighted that Non-resident Indians (NRIs) are welcome to join this initiative, expressing optimism that it will garner significant public support akin to the Janmabhoomi program from his previous term.
The platform invites all those willing to help the poor, and Naidu clarified that the state government’s role is merely to connect donors and beneficiaries. No extra financial aid will be dispensed by the government, he noted.
In its initial phase, the program will benefit 20 lakh families, continuing until the state reaches its goal of zero poverty.
Naidu reiterated that the primary aim of the government is to eliminate poverty and enhance living conditions. He urged the affluent to step forward in support. He also proposed that beneficiaries be referred to as ‘Bangaru Kutumbam’ (golden families), while those who assist be termed ‘Margadarsi’ (guides).
The Chief Minister was adamant about ensuring that the selection process for beneficiaries is conducted transparently. By involving Gram Sabhas and Ward Sabhas, potential disputes could be avoided. He clarified that the P-4 initiative is separate from any existing welfare programs in the state.
P-4 is specifically focused on uplifting the most marginalized groups, and he instructed officials to prevent any doubt or suspicion among the public regarding the initiative.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that measures are being taken to guarantee that at least one individual from every village participates in the P-4 launch event on Ugadi, with one bus arranged from each constituency to transport attendees.
