Kolkata, Aug 17 (NationPress) The security personnel assigned to the acclaimed playback artist Arijit Singh has expressed regret to complainant Kamalakanta Laha for the inconvenience caused during a recent video recording in West Bengal's Santiniketan.
In light of the apology, Laha has formally retracted his complaint against both the singer and his security staff, which was filed at the Santiniketan police station on August 14.
The police announced on Sunday that both parties were convened at the Santiniketan police station on Saturday to address the issue.
According to a senior police official, "The complainant and Singh's security guard were summoned to discuss the matter. Both sides have agreed to resolve the issue amicably. Singh's security guard apologized for the inconvenience caused, leading to the withdrawal of the complaint."
Following this incident, the crew responsible for the video shoot also presented a bond to the Santiniketan police to ensure that residents of Bolpur and Santiniketan in the Birbhum district would not face any disturbances during their activity.
On August 14, resident Kamalakanta Laha lodged a written complaint against Arijit Singh and his security guard at the Santiniketan police station, alleging that Singh's guard had harassed him and forcibly removed him after he voiced his concerns over a road blockage resulting from the video shoot. Laha also claimed to have lost a gold ring during the altercation with the guard.
"I was trying to get to work on my motorcycle, but the road was obstructed due to a video shoot involving Arijit Singh. I was in a rush. Singh's bodyguards instructed me to wait for five minutes. However, they took too long. I requested to pass through as I was running late, but they insisted I wait for 30 minutes. Pressured by my work commitments, I attempted to proceed through the blockage. At that moment, Singh's security guards forcibly lifted me and placed me in a police vehicle," he recounted.
Feeling harassed, Laha went to the Santiniketan police station to file his complaint against Arijit Singh and his security guard.
