Kolkata, Aug 14 (NationPress) A formal complaint has been lodged against renowned playback artist Arijit Singh and his security personnel at the Santiniketan police station in the district of Birbhum, West Bengal.
The complaint, submitted by an individual named Kamalakanta Laha on Thursday, claims that Singh's bodyguard harassed him and forcibly removed him after he expressed his concerns over a road closure caused by a video shoot.
A local resident of Subhaspalli in Santiniketan, which is famous for Visva-Bharati University, Laha also stated that he lost his gold ring during the altercation with the singer's security.
"I was on my way to work on my motorcycle. However, the road was obstructed due to Arijit Singh's video shoot. I was in a hurry. Singh's bodyguards instructed me to wait for five minutes. I complied but they were taking too long. I requested them to allow me to pass since I was running late. They then informed me I would have to wait for 30 minutes. Feeling the pressure of my job, I decided to push through the roadblock. At that moment, Singh's security guards came, lifted me onto their shoulders, and placed me in a police vehicle," he explained.
Following this incident, Laha reported to the Santiniketan police station to file a written complaint against Arijit Singh and his bodyguard.
The complainant added, "They treated me poorly. I lost my ring in the scuffle. As an artist, how can another artist behave this way towards me? I have submitted a complaint at the Santiniketan police station."
Birbhum District Superintendent of Police, Amandeep, stated, "A complaint has been received, and the situation is currently under investigation from all perspectives."
Recently, Arijit Singh has been in Santiniketan for a music video shoot. The Padma Shri award-winning artist has been busy filming at various sites throughout the university town. Not long ago, he collaborated on a music video with international pop star Ed Sheeran in his hometown of Murshidabad during Sheeran's tour in India.
A few days ago, Sheeran released a cross-cultural remix of his summer hit “Sapphire,” featuring Arijit Singh. This new version seamlessly combines English, Hindi, and Punjabi vocals, with both artists alternating between languages throughout the song.
