Bhubaneswar, April 2 (NationPress) In a significant operation, the Special Crime Unit (SCU) of the Commissionerate Police apprehended a notorious arms dealer in Bhubaneswar and its surrounding regions on Thursday.
Following a well-coordinated intelligence tip-off, the SCU initiated a surveillance mission aimed at curbing illegal arms trafficking.
During a late-night raid on Wednesday, police arrested the suspect, Amaresh Rout, also known as Kahna, in Sundarapada, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Airfield police.
The individual was interrogated to uncover more information about the arms smuggling network.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Manas Kumar Swain informed the media that Kahna was employed by a finance company, but the origins of the firearms he handled remain uncertain.
During the operation, authorities seized two semi-automatic pistols, ten live rounds of ammunition, two magazines, a mobile device, and a motorcycle.

Rakesh and his relative Shakti Shekhar subsequently disposed of her body in Jajpur district.
Investigators revealed that Kahna had allegedly reserved the OYO room as part of the premeditated crime. He was eventually arrested by Jajpur police.
After serving some time in prison, he was granted bail but returned to engaging in criminal activities.
