Chandigarh, Sep 11 (NationPress) In a meticulous intelligence-driven operation, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police have dismantled a cross-border organized arms smuggling ring, resulting in the apprehension of six individuals. The authorities seized six advanced firearms and a substantial amount of Rs 5.75 lakh in hawala funds, according to the Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, on Thursday.
The suspects include Pargat Singh, Ajaybir Singh, Karanbir Singh, Shri Ram, Mehakpreet Singh, and Dinesh Kumar.
Among the seized weapons are a 9MM Glock, three .30 bore PX5 pistols, and additional .32 and .30 bore pistols.
DGP Yadav indicated that this syndicate was orchestrated by the arrested individual Mehakpreet Singh, also known as Rohit, who was operating under the guidance of foreign associates via social media platforms.
