Chandigarh, June 6 (NationPress) In a significant development, the Counter Intelligence unit of Punjab Police in Amritsar arrested two individuals, Sukhchain Singh and Jugraj Singh, who were allegedly involved in cross-border arms smuggling and confiscated eight firearms, authorities confirmed on Friday.
The Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, reported that following reliable intelligence, these suspects were apprehended while they were in transit with a shipment of illegal arms sourced from a Pakistan-based smuggler named Noor.
In a post on the social media platform X, the DGP noted that the recovery included three Glock 9mm pistols, four Px5 pistols, and one .30 bore pistol.
“A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed in Amritsar, and further inquiries are ongoing to uncover more accomplices and the full scale of this smuggling operation,” added the DGP.
