Mumbai, March 2 (NationPress) General Upendra Dwivedi, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), conducted a thorough assessment of operational logistics, training frameworks, and administrative readiness during his recent visit to the Headquarters overseeing Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Goa in Mumbai, according to an official report.

During the briefing, the emphasis was placed on the formation's preparedness in guaranteeing strong rear area security, integrated logistics, and a smooth Military-Civil fusion to support operations in changing scenarios, as stated in an official release.

The Army Chief recognized four service personnel with immediate commendations and praised all ranks for their professionalism and dedication. He highlighted the vital role of cohesive command and robust support systems in maintaining operational excellence and ensuring troop welfare, as noted by the Additional Directorate General of Public Information of the Integrated Headquarters of the Ministry of Defence (Army).

In a related event, Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Southern Command, visited the 16th Light Cavalry on its 250th Raising Day, marking the oldest armoured regiment of the Indian Army, which was first Indianized in 1922.

While addressing all ranks, he encouraged them to maintain professional excellence and operational agility, while embracing technology to stay ahead of evolving threats, thereby upholding the Regiment's esteemed traditions of bravery, discipline, and duty in service to the nation.

During his visit, the Army Commander paid tribute to the Regiment's heroes by laying a wreath at the War Memorial and observing the Mounted Parade.

He engaged with Army veterans and their families, acknowledging their enduring strength and the legacy they have upheld across generations.

The capture of Gadgor in 1965 earned them the Theatre Honour Punjab, followed by a notable armoured advance through the Shakargarh Bulge in 1971.

With the unique distinction of being the sole armoured regiment to have participated in Kargil during Operation Vijay in 1999 and supporting the capture of Tololing, the 16th Light Cavalry remains a benchmark for regimental pride, discipline, and operational excellence, as announced on social media.
