Jaipur, May 29 (NationPress) Union Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat expressed deep concern over the arrest of Shakur Khan, the Personal Assistant to former Rajasthan Minister and MLA Saleh Mohammad, who was apprehended on charges of espionage.
Speaking to reporters, the Union Minister remarked, "Having just returned from an international trip, I was made aware of the arrest of Saleh Mohammad's Personal Assistant, a former Minister in Rajasthan."
He called for an immediate investigation into all connections related to Khan and urged that stringent measures be taken against anyone jeopardizing the nation's security.
Khan was taken into custody on Wednesday night by a team from the Intelligence department acting on specific security-related intel.
An official revealed that Khan, who is employed at the district employment office, had stored phone numbers linked to Pakistan on his device.
"There were indications suggesting Shakur Khan's potential involvement in espionage activities for Pakistan. He was under surveillance based on these inputs and was apprehended last night," the official elaborated.
A joint interrogation was conducted in Jaisalmer before the Intelligence team transported Khan to Jaipur.
