In a post on X, CM Sarma expressed, "Today, from Kamakhya to Kachakanti, people across Assam are welcoming the new year and celebrating Assam's achievements from the past year."

He further emphasized the state government’s dedication to positioning Assam among the top five states in the nation.

"On this remarkable day, our government reaffirms its pledge to elevate Assam to one of Bharat's Top 5 States and to ensure the welfare of every citizen," he noted.

Today, Assam is celebrating Bohag Bihu alongside the Assamese New Year.

Throughout the state, various Bihu committees are actively organizing grand festivities, including traditional dance competitions and musical nights featuring local artists and cultural icons. Youth groups are energetically rehearsing, prepared to ignite the stage with their vitality and pride. In rural areas, the celebrations maintain their roots—rustic, warm, and vibrant.

The sounds of laughter blend with music as communities come together to celebrate nature's abundance, communal spirit, and the enduring connection between people and their land. Even in urban areas, where contemporary life prevails, Bihu serves as a reminder of their origins.

With offices and schools closed for the celebrations, many return to their hometowns, drawn by the powerful allure of tradition, family, and festivity.

On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared his heartfelt wishes for Bohag Bihu in Assam.

In a message on X, PM Modi conveyed, "Warm wishes for Bohag Bihu to everyone!"

As Bohag or Rongali Bihu signifies the start of the Assamese new year, PM Modi added, "May this new year herald fresh beginnings, happiness, and prosperity in all your endeavors. Wishing good health and the fulfillment of all aspirations to everyone."
