PM Modi Celebrates Cultural Achievements: Assam CM

Guwahati, April 20 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, declared on Sunday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is always present at cultural milestones celebrated in the state.

On social media platform X, CM Sarma stated, "Whenever there is a cultural milestone being celebrated in Assam, @narendramodi ji has always been present to extend his best wishes and support. On September 8 this year, he will grace the inaugural ceremony of Bhupen Da's birth centenary celebrations."

During a meeting with PM Modi on Saturday, the Chief Minister invited him to be the chief guest for the inaugural ceremony of the year-long celebration honoring Bharat Ratna Bhupen Hazarika.

CM Sarma mentioned that the Prime Minister has confirmed his visit to the state on September 8.

Since PM Modi's first visit to Assam after taking office in 2014, the atmosphere was filled with excitement.

Rally grounds in Guwahati were packed with people—young and old, farmers, students, and entrepreneurs—all eager to see the man who promised "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas".

During this visit, PM Modi focused on connectivity and economic growth.

He emphasized transforming Assam into a gateway to Southeast Asia under the 'Act East' Policy, revitalizing the region's historical significance in trade and culture.

His subsequent visits highlighted the need for infrastructure.

In 2016, he inaugurated the Dhola-Sadiya Bridge, later named the Bhupen Hazarika Setu—the longest river bridge in India.

This project was more than just concrete and steel; it represented the connection between isolated areas and mainstream development.

In his speeches, he often remarked that every bridge, every road, and every railway line served as a thread weaving Assam into the national fabric.

PM Modi's visits frequently included gestures acknowledging Assam's rich cultural heritage.

He donned traditional Assamese gamosas, referenced Bhupen Hazarika's songs, and highlighted the significance of the Bihu festival.

In 2023, during a visit around Rongali Bihu, the Prime Minister commended Assam's youth for preserving their traditions.

A record-setting Bihu performance at Sarusajai Stadium, featuring over 11,000 dancers and drummers, made headlines—PM Modi was present, clapping and smiling along.

From laying the foundation for AIIMS in Guwahati to initiating new LPG schemes for rural households, PM Modi's visits often included launching major initiatives.

In 2021, during the Covid recovery phase, he visited vaccination centers and evaluated Assam's healthcare preparedness, advocating for resilience and unity.

He also launched the Assam-Malaria Elimination Roadmap and supported the development of ethanol plants and industrial clusters aimed at generating jobs for Assam's youth.

PM Modi's visits, particularly during election seasons, were filled with passionate speeches aimed at energizing the BJP's growing presence in the Northeast.

He attributed Assam's rapid growth to the "double-engine government" of the Bharatiya Janata Party at both the Centre and the state.

During his most recent visit this year, PM Modi launched the ambitious Brahmaputra Economic Corridor, aiming to optimize river-based logistics and tourism.

Before departing, he visited a local school, surprising children with questions about their dreams and encouraging them to aim high.
