Guwahati, Sep 13 (NationPress) Residents of Assam expressed their excitement and appreciation for the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday evening, who is in the state to celebrate the centenary of Bharat Ratna Bhupen Hazarika in Guwahati.

The Prime Minister is expected to engage in the commemorative event at approximately 5 p.m. and will deliver a speech to the audience.

In addition to the celebrations, he will inaugurate and lay the groundwork for several significant infrastructure and industrial development projects totaling over Rs 18,530 crore in Assam on Sunday. Residents have praised these initiatives, asserting that they will greatly enhance the state's growth.

A local resident shared with IANS, "There is tremendous joy as PM Modi visits Assam today. A special coin will also be unveiled alongside projects amounting to Rs 18,000 crore for our state. This is a remarkable advancement that will benefit Assam and foster progress in the region."

Another local noted, "The birth anniversary of Bhupen Hazarika is highly significant. Following this, PM Modi will launch various development projects that will aid in our state's advancement. We are thrilled about the Prime Minister's notable focus on Assam."

Describing the visit as a pivotal moment, another resident stated, "It's a significant occasion for Assam with the introduction of a commemorative Rs 100 coin, representing a major leap for our state."

"Prime Minister Modi is returning to the Northeast after a considerable time, having recently visited Manipur. Today, he lands in Guwahati to unveil projects worth crores, a critical milestone for the region's development," they added.

Another local expressed gratitude for the government's efforts, remarking, "PM Modi is undertaking substantial work for Assam. Our state is advancing across all sectors, and we are immensely thankful to the administration for this."

Heightened security measures have been implemented for the Prime Minister's visit, as crowds gather in large numbers at the venue celebrating Bhupen Hazarika's centenary to extend a warm welcome.

Moreover, on Sunday, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for multiple projects in Darrang and address a public gathering.

Later, around 1:45 p.m., he will inaugurate Assam Bio-ethanol Private Limited and the Numaligarh Refinery Plant in Golaghat, in addition to laying the foundation stone for a Polypropylene Plant in the same district.
