Assam Minister Visits Thailand to Entice Investors for Advantage Assam Summit

Guwahati, Jan 10 (NationPress) Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated on Friday that following visits to Delhi and Mumbai, a team from Assam under the leadership of Minister Keshab Mahanta has landed in Thailand to attract potential investors for the forthcoming investment summit scheduled in the state in February.
On X, CM Sarma shared, "After Delhi and Mumbai, our investor roadshows are now in Thailand. In the forthcoming days, Team Assam will journey to the US, Singapore, Japan, and other nations to present our vision for #AdvantageAssam2 to global investors."
Additionally, an official statement highlighted, "Ambassador Nagesh Singh warmly welcomed the Minister for Revenue, Disaster Management, IT, and Science and Technology, Keshab Mahanta, in Bangkok."
"The delegation led by the Minister is in Thailand to advocate for the 'Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit' and to encourage Thai businesses and investors to participate in Assam's remarkable growth narrative. The delegation also engaged in productive discussions with representatives from Bangkok's hospitality and tourism sectors," the statement continued.
Recently, Chief Minister Sarma asserted that Assam is growing at a remarkable rate of 12.5 percent, establishing itself as a rapidly developing state in the nation.
During a program in the national capital earlier this week, projecting a robust economic profile of the state, CM Sarma stated: "Assam serves as one of the most powerful growth engines of the country, expanding at a rate of 12.5 percent."
He further encouraged Ambassadors, High Commissioners from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC), European nations, and other stakeholders to invest in the state.
In his keynote address to diplomats from 36 nations, industry leaders, and various stakeholders, CM Sarma remarked that Assam has made significant strides in infrastructure, health, education, and other sectors over the past decade.
He disclosed that new infrastructure projects amounting to Rs 1 lakh crore are being initiated in the state, including three additional bridges over the Brahmaputra, a satellite city around Guwahati with assistance from the Singapore government, and a railway line connecting Guwahati to Gelephu, Bhutan, among others.
Emphasizing the significance of green energy, the Chief Minister stated that the government's focus has consistently been on clean and renewable energy.
He expressed the government’s ambition that all industries emerging in Assam utilize energy from green power sources, including the Tata semiconductor plant located at Jagiroad. A major investor summit, Advantage Assam, is poised to take place in Guwahati on February 25 and 26.
