The Assam Rifles Commanders Conference took place at the Directorate General Assam Rifles headquarters in Laitkor, Shillong, presided over by Lieutenant General Lakhera. This gathering included Formation Commanders, Battalion Commanders, and staff officers from various units.
Lt Gen Lakhera praised the commitment and competence of personnel at all levels for their effective operations under challenging circumstances. The conference discussions were centered on enhancing operational capabilities, improving combat readiness, and increasing overall efficiency.
Topics also included a strategic approach to introducing next-generation weapons and equipment, exchanging best practices, and advancing training and skill development initiatives.
India shares a 1,643-km unfenced border with Myanmar across four Northeastern states: Arunachal Pradesh (520 km), Manipur (398 km), Nagaland (215 km), and Mizoram (510 km). The Assam Rifles plays a key role in securing this sensitive region, as well as serving in Jammu and Kashmir.
During the conference, awards were distributed under the Assam Rifles Rajbhasha Shield Yojana, with 23 Assam Rifles taking first place, followed by 28 Assam Rifles and 34 Assam Rifles in second and third, respectively, for outstanding implementation of official language initiatives.
The Director General lauded the commanders' efforts in ensuring peace and stability and urged for increased vigilance in light of a shifting security landscape. The conference wrapped up with a renewed dedication to operational excellence.
On the eve of the 191st Raising Day of the Assam Rifles, a lively cultural event was organized at its Shillong headquarters. The program was inaugurated by Meghalaya Governor C. H. Vijayashankar.
Highlighting the rich cultural diversity of the Northeast, the event featured performances from students of Delhi University, showcasing traditional dances from Mizoram and Manipur. Additionally, the Lilikhrei Folk Group from Nagaland, the Assam Rifles Jazz Band, and an exciting Mixed Martial Arts exhibition by the ARTC sports team were also part of the festivities.
Students from Assam Rifles Public School delivered an engaging cultural presentation, further enriching the celebratory atmosphere.
