Itanagar, Dec 16 (NationPress) The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lt. General K.T. Parnaik (Retd.), stated on Tuesday that the Assam Rifles has effectively maintained peace and stability in its jurisdiction through vigilant efforts and strong security protocols.

A representative from Lok Bhavan mentioned that the Governor awarded the Governor’s Citation to the 11th Battalion of the Assam Rifles during a ceremony in Itanagar.

The Citation was accepted by the Commandant, Colonel Vivek Tripathi, along with Subedar Major Lekh Raj and Rifleman (General Duty) Neelesh Kumar, on behalf of all the battalion members.

In his address, the Governor praised the 11 Assam Rifles for their outstanding professionalism, effective counter-insurgency strategies, and their compassionate efforts in providing timely support to both the civil administration and local communities.

Extending his congratulations to the Commandant and all personnel on behalf of the residents of Arunachal Pradesh, he expressed his belief that the Battalion would sustain its exemplary service and commitment.

The Governor emphasized that the 11 Assam Rifles has ensured safety in its area of responsibility, instilling a sense of security and confidence among citizens, thus fostering a conducive environment for development.

He also highlighted the Battalion’s Sadbhavana initiatives as crucial in building trust and harmony between armed forces and local communities.

From a broader national standpoint, the Governor remarked that the commendable actions of the armed forces are pivotal to realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ and reinforcing the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ in Arunachal Pradesh.

Despite facing numerous challenges, he noted that the 11 Assam Rifles has made significant contributions toward maintaining peace, stability, and progress within the state.

A Defence spokesperson added that the Governor’s Citation recognizes the battalion’s ongoing commitment to operational excellence, vigilant readiness, and unwavering dedication to preserving peace and security in challenging environments.

Over the years, the Assam Rifles has earned a reputation for disciplined conduct, professional capability, and a strong sense of responsibility while executing counterinsurgency, border management, and internal security tasks.

Their consistent display of courage, resilience, and adaptability has garnered the trust and respect of both the civil administration and local communities.

Apart from operational successes, the Assam Rifles in Miao and Namsai have significantly contributed to fostering goodwill and unity through civic action programs, humanitarian aid, and outreach initiatives.

Its personnel have provided assistance in times of natural disasters, infrastructure development, and community welfare projects, exemplifying the force's humane and community-oriented ethos, the spokesperson concluded.
