A spokesperson for the Defence sector stated that through a rapid and coordinated counter-insurgency effort, the Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Indian Army and local police forces, managed to apprehend these militants on Friday night in eastern Manipur’s Tengnoupal District.
Upon receiving precise intelligence reports concerning suspected militant activities, two operational columns were dispatched to intercept potential infiltration along a recognized route.
Vigilant troops noticed suspicious movements near the border and promptly initiated an ambush. The team confronted and detained four individuals attempting to enter Indian territory.
The apprehended individuals were later identified as Chabungbam Manaocha Meitei, Waikhom Ithoi Meitei, Ningthoujam Rakesh, and Tekecham Nanao Singh.
“During initial interrogations, all four admitted to being active members of the PLA, affirming their engagement in insurgent activities. Their capture represents a significant blow to elements aiming to disrupt peace in the region,” the spokesperson stated.
Following established protocols, the arrested individuals were transferred to the Kakching Police Station for further investigation and legal proceedings.
The Defence spokesperson emphasized that this operation showcases the effective collaboration between security forces and local authorities in protecting national interests and maintaining law and order in sensitive border regions.
