Assembly Elections: Local Residents Condemn AIMIM for Nominating Delhi Riots Suspect Tahir Hussain

New Delhi, Dec 10 (NationPress) Residents of the Mustafabad constituency are voicing strong opposition against AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi for granting a nomination to Tahir Hussain, who has been implicated in the 2020 riots, in anticipation of the Delhi Assembly polls.

Tahir Hussain officially joined the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) on Tuesday.

Residents from Khajuri Khas reacted negatively to Owaisi's decision to nominate Hussain for the Mustafabad Assembly seat.

Local inhabitant Mohit Baliyan expressed his concerns to IANS, stating, “I urge the community not to elect Tahir Hussain as our MLA. We reject this type of politics.” He further appealed to Owaisi to refrain from jeopardizing the area.

“It is common knowledge that Tahir Hussain is a notorious criminal,” Baliyan asserted.

In response to inquiries, Mohit recounted, “During that period, my sister was getting married. We incurred losses ranging from Rs 15 to 20 lakh. We have yet to receive any compensation. Neither the government nor the Kejriwal administration provided any assistance. We even sought legal recourse, but our pleas went unheard.”

Ankit, who worked with the IB, was murdered amid the riots, prompting his family to leave the area. Mohit noted, “Ankit's family no longer resides here. Numerous families have fled from Moonga Nagar, Nehru Bihar, and Mustafabad. Approximately 90 percent of Hindus have vacated Mustafabad. An atmosphere of terror prevails here.”

Another local, Adesh Kumar Bhati, shared his thoughts with IANS, saying, “How can Tahir Hussain, a traitor, be granted a ticket? Such traitors should be expelled from the nation. Ankit's family has migrated from Delhi out of fear.”

Another resident, Manoj, recounted to IANS, “Ankit suffered brutal attacks. His body was covered in knife wounds, with blood flowing from multiple injuries. He was murdered and discarded in a drain.”

Tahir Hussain represents a criminal element. It is disgraceful that a ticket has been awarded to someone who has caused such devastation to the city. The political landscape in Delhi has become exceedingly corrupt,” he added.

In response to further questioning, Manoj mentioned that Ankit's family was compelled to relocate to Ghaziabad due to fear.
