New Delhi, March 9 (NationPress) AAP MLA and former Chief Minister of Delhi, Atishi, has publicly condemned the BJP-led administration for its inability to execute the Mahila Samridhi Yojana, alleging that the party has misled voters with lies and fraud to secure election victories.
This outburst followed a day after Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta sanctioned the initiative, which aims to deliver Rs 2,500 in monthly financial aid to qualifying women. The program, promoted as 'Modi ki Guarantee', was approved during a Cabinet meeting led by CM Gupta on Saturday.
The initiative targets to assist between 15-20 lakh women aged 18 to 60 from families earning up to Rs 3 lakh annually, focusing especially on individuals from Below Poverty Line (BPL) households.
To qualify, applicants must have resided in Delhi for the last five years and have a bank account linked to their Aadhaar number.
Women are required to register online, with a software system set to provide multi-level verification to avert fraudulent claims, akin to the Union government's Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme.
However, Atishi has accused the BJP government of failing to meet the March 8 deadline, asserting that no funds have been deposited into beneficiaries' accounts nor has any registration process been initiated.
“Before the Delhi elections, PM Modi promised the women of Delhi that on March 8, Rs 2,500 would be credited to all eligible women's accounts. He instructed women to link their phone numbers to their bank accounts, assuring them of a confirmation message regarding the deposit. But what transpired on March 8? Neither was Rs 2,500 credited nor was a registration site launched,” Atishi stated while speaking to IANS.
She further alleged that instead of delivering on this promise, the BJP government merely established a four-minister committee.
“The women of Delhi are aware that creating a committee often serves as a strategy to postpone schemes indefinitely. This committee might linger for years, yet the promised funds will never reach the beneficiaries,” the former CM of Delhi remarked.
Atishi also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of deceiving the populace of Delhi.
“It has become evident that PM Modi misled the women of Delhi. The promise has proven to be a fraud. Henceforth, the people of Delhi—and indeed the entire nation—will not place their trust in 'Modi ki Guarantee'. Citizens now recognize that he makes grand promises before elections only to retract afterwards,” she concluded.
