Atul Subhash Suicide Case: Bengaluru Police Chief Confirms No Arrests Made So Far

Bengaluru, Dec 13 (NationPress) Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayanand stated on Friday that no arrests have yet been made in connection with the Atul Subhash suicide incident.
During a press briefing, the Police Commissioner remarked that investigative teams from the police department are actively searching for the individuals involved.
"The Marathahalli police have registered an FIR following a complaint from the deceased's brother. An officer of inspector rank is currently overseeing the investigation. A thorough probe is underway, especially as this case has gained significant attention on social media and within the community," he mentioned.
"We are committed to delivering justice for the deceased, and we will locate the accused soon. The police are in the process of collecting evidence related to the case," Dayanand added.
Previously, reports indicated that Karnataka Police took into custody the mother-in-law and brother-in-law of the late Atul Subhash, who tragically took his own life on December 9 due to an alleged demand from his wife's family for Rs 3 crore as a settlement.
This high-profile case has sparked discussions regarding the harassment of married men and the potential misuse of dowry laws in India. Atul Subhash ended his life, leaving behind a 40-page death note and a 90-minute video that detailed the alleged torture he faced from his wife.
Atul Subhash had previously sent emails to President Droupadi Murmu and the Supreme Court appealing for intervention on behalf of harassed husbands and demanding the arrest of the accused: his wife, mother-in-law, and other family members.
In his suicide note, the 34-year-old revealed shocking details and expressed a desire for his ashes to be scattered in a gutter outside the court if those who tormented him were not held accountable.
Working with an automobile company, Atul Subhash allegedly chose to end his life after being pressured for a Rs 3 crore divorce settlement. He took this drastic action in the early hours of Tuesday, leaving behind both a 90-minute video and a 40-page death note that chronicled the harassment he faced from his wife, Nikita Singhania, and her family.
The note included the statement: "If the court finds the corrupt judge and my wife along with other tormentors innocent, then scatter my ashes in a gutter outside the court. Do not perform my 'asthi visarjan' until my harassers are penalized."
Despite this, the family collected his ashes from the Bengaluru crematorium on Wednesday, stating they would take them back to Patna, their ancestral home, for immersion in the river as per familial traditions.
The suicide note, titled "Justice is Due," addressed to his 2-year-old child, expressed: "Now that I'm gone, there will be no money left to exploit, and I hope they will finally consider the facts of the case. One day, you will learn the true nature of your mother and her avaricious family.
"I wish for you to be shielded from their greed and malevolence. I used to laugh thinking about saving money for a car for when you go to college. How foolish. Always remember that you owe nothing to anyone. Do not place your faith in the system." Atul Subhash detailed his final wishes, stating: "All my court proceedings should be broadcast live so that the public can witness my case and understand the dire condition of our legal system and the exploitation involved by these women."
He requested that his suicide note and videos be accepted as his formal testimony and evidence.
"I fear that the judge may manipulate documents, intimidate witnesses, and adversely affect other cases. Based on my experience, Bengaluru courts appear to uphold the law better than those in Uttar Pradesh. I urge that proceedings continue in Karnataka for the sake of justice, and that the accused remain in judicial custody in Bengaluru during the trial," the note stated.
He also wrote: "Grant custody of my child to my parents, who can raise him with better morals. Prevent my wife or her family from approaching my remains. Impose the maximum penalty on my tormentors, even though I have little faith in our legal system. If individuals like my wife are not incarcerated, they will only become bolder and target others in society with false accusations in the future.
"The judiciary must awaken and put an end to the harassment of my parents and brother in fabricated cases. There must be no negotiations, settlements, or mediation with these vile individuals, and the perpetrators must face justice," the letter concluded.
He had also shared a link on X, tagging his video to CEO Elon Musk and US President-elect Donald Trump.
"A deceased man requests Elon Musk and Donald Trump to save millions from harmful ideologies, abortion, DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion), and to restore freedom of speech in India. By the time you read this, I will be gone. A legal genocide against men is currently occurring in India," the suicide note concluded.
