Kohima, Feb 23 (NationPress) The Union Minister of State (MoS) for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Nimuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya, emphasized on Monday that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, there is a significant focus on the comprehensive development of the Northeast region.
Speaking to officials in Dimapur following her two-day tour across various sites in Nagaland, the Minister reiterated the Prime Minister’s guiding principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas” (everyone's support, everyone's growth, everyone's trust, everyone's effort), highlighting that development is a shared responsibility.
During her discussions with officials, Bambhaniya noted that Nagaland possesses tremendous potential to become a model for development if all departments collaborate with dedication, coordination, and well-defined objectives.
Throughout her visit, the Union Minister assessed health facilities, Anganwadi centers, and Jal Jeevan Mission projects; engaged with self-help groups and women beneficiaries; toured fair price shops; and convened meetings with village leaders, including chairpersons and councillors.
She commended the grassroots initiatives and stressed the necessity of moving beyond paperwork to ensure the effective application of government schemes at the village level, ensuring benefits reach those they are intended for.
Bambhaniya pointed out that Nagaland’s stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage, especially the internationally acclaimed Hornbill Festival, offer considerable prospects for tourism-driven economic growth.
She mentioned that if tourism is properly leveraged, it can significantly enhance the incomes of impoverished families and create sustainable job opportunities throughout the state.
Praising Khonoma, famously known as a green village, Bambhaniya admired the integrity, discipline, and strong community spirit of its residents, stating that such examples inspire the entire nation.
She added that Nagaland's values and commitment to environmental preservation set a high standard for sustainable development.
The Union Minister also highlighted the significance of promoting “Local for Local” and “Make in India,” urging citizens to support local products while empowering women, farmers, and youth.
She emphasized the need for adequate platforms for skilled women and young entrepreneurs so they can become self-sufficient and contribute meaningfully to economic advancement.
Underlining the importance of goal-oriented work, Bambhaniya encouraged officials to establish monthly and six-month targets to achieve tangible, measurable results.
She further urged all departments to clearly identify obstacles and work collaboratively to address them efficiently.
Expressing optimism about the state’s future, the Minister stated that with unity, commitment, and effective implementation of government schemes, Nagaland could significantly contribute to the nation’s progress towards a developed India.
