Agartala, Jan 21 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Wednesday that the government's 'Purvodaya' vision, which is focused on enhancing development in eastern India, is also significantly impacting growth and progress in the Northeast.
In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Manik Saha on the occasion of Tripura's Statehood Day, the Prime Minister acknowledged that for many years, the people of the Northeast, including Tripura, experienced a sense of separation from the national narrative.
He remarked, "Our government has been granted the chance to transform this situation by closing gaps, fostering emotional connections, and resonating with the region's populace."
PM Modi noted that in the past eight years, both the NDA government at the national level and CM Saha's administration have diligently worked towards transforming Tripura.
"These ongoing efforts align perfectly with the historic mandate bestowed upon the people of Tripura in 2018 and 2023," he added.
He emphasized that a variety of development initiatives have considerably enhanced the Ease of Living for the residents of Tripura, focusing on the fortification of both physical and social infrastructure.
The Prime Minister noted that numerous central government programs have yielded tangible advantages, highlighting that the Union Cabinet has recently sanctioned new elements under the existing Special Development Packages, which will have a particularly beneficial effect on the tribal communities within the state.
The unveiling of the new integrated terminal building at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala in 2022 has further enhanced connectivity, commerce, and tourism, according to Modi.
He praised the remarkable progress Tripura has achieved in recent years, attributing this to the aspirations and hard work of the people, and noted that the state's economy has expanded significantly, bolstered by commendable reforms aimed at reducing compliance burdens and deregulation. These initiatives showcase the Tripura government's commitment to attracting investment and generating new opportunities for the youth.
In his letter, the Prime Minister acknowledged the inspiring example set by Tripura's farmers in environmental consciousness, pointing out that the state is a frontrunner in the Northeast for the implementation of the PM-KUSUM scheme.
"The growing adoption of natural farming practices is equally praiseworthy. The state government's dedicated support for weavers, mulberry growers, and pineapple farmers is enhancing livelihoods and establishing a foundation for sustainable growth," he remarked.
The Prime Minister reflected on the past struggles of Tripura, mentioning that certain areas were once plagued by insurgency and unrest, disrupting daily life and limiting the aspirations of the youth.
"Today, the citizens of Tripura have exhibited extraordinary bravery and determination, opting for peace over conflict and development over uncertainty. The 2024 Peace Accord with the NLFT (National Liberation Front of Tripura) and ATTF (All Tripura Tiger Force) has marked a new beginning of hope," stated PM Modi.
He concluded that the people of Tripura have rejected regressive ideologies and placed their trust in governance that delivers results.
Recalling his visit to Tripura in September 2025 and his prayers at the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple in Gomati district, PM Modi mentioned that he reviewed ongoing development efforts at the temple complex.
"May the blessings of Mata Tripura Sundari always guide the people of Tripura. Together, we shall strive to realize the vision of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur and elevate Tripura to even greater heights," the Prime Minister stated in his letter.
