Kolkata, Feb 27 (NationPress) Abhishek Banerjee, the general secretary of the Trinamool Congress and a Lok Sabha member, raised concerns on Thursday regarding the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and its unwillingness to disclose the complete identity of "One Abhishek Banerjee" in the charge sheet submitted for a case.

"Reports indicate that the CBI has filed a charge sheet against me. My name appears twice within it. Who is this Abhishek? Where does he reside? There has been no comprehensive introduction provided... The CBI speaks in an impersonal manner. I welcome this fear. However, I do not engage in doublespeak. I have previously stated that I will accept the consequences if anyone can substantiate claims of corruption against me. I reiterate that sentiment," he expressed during a Trinamool Congress organizational meeting in the afternoon.

He further mentioned that no developments occurred after the CBI summoned him for questioning previously. "Abhishek Banerjee will never submit to anyone except for the common people," he asserted.

He also pointed out that misinformation has been deliberately circulated claiming he intends to join the BJP. Additionally, rumors suggesting the formation of a new party are completely false. "Even if you cut my throat, that wounded throat will yell Mamata Banerjee Zindabad," Banerjee declared.

The CBI has implicated Abhishek Banerjee in its third charge sheet concerning irregularities linked to the 2014 Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) and recruitment of assistant teachers in state-run primary schools, following orders issued by the Calcutta High Court in June 2022. The agency presented its third supplementary charge sheet in the special court on February 21.

During the party event, Banerjee emphasized the ongoing attempts to mislead the public on various matters, ranging from Sandeshkhali to R.G. Kar. "There have been conspiracies in West Bengal before, and they continue to this day. We must protect Bengal at all costs," he stated.

While addressing attendees, he also highlighted the importance of upholding discipline within the Trinamool Congress. "Some individuals often make statements to remain relevant in the media. Such actions are discouraged. No one should violate party discipline or tarnish the party's reputation to demonstrate their influence. I have identified traitors within the party, including Mukul Roy and Suvendu Adhikari. In the future, I will also expose similar betrayers," said Abhishek Banerjee.

He concluded by affirming that in the upcoming 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, the Trinamool Congress aims to secure at least one more seat than it achieved in 2021.
