Kolkata, Feb 26 (NationPress) The West Bengal Police is facing intense scrutiny due to their inability to locate five individuals implicated in the tragic death of dancer and event management expert Sutandra Chattopadhyay early Monday morning.
The young woman tragically lost her life in a road mishap while attempting to evade the intoxicated and aggressive men, who were pursuing her vehicle along the National Highway.
The incident occurred when the driver of the car carrying Sutandra Chattopadhyay accelerated and maneuvered to avoid the drunk individuals chasing them in another car.
As a result, the vehicle transporting the victim overturned on the National Highway near Panagarh in the West Burdwan district, leading to her immediate death, while the suspects fled the scene, abandoning their vehicle.
With no arrests made even after 48 hours post-accident, criticism against the state’s investigative authorities is mounting from both opposition parties and the general public.
Concerns are being voiced regarding the police's failure to track down even one of the assailants, especially since the vehicle they were in is currently with the police, and the identity of the vehicle’s owner is well-known.
Opposition parties are drawing comparisons to the horrific R.G. Kar Hospital rape and murder case.
They assert that the police's inability to apprehend the suspects may be an attempt to protect them due to their powerful connections.
Meanwhile, sources within the state police indicated that they have received credible information that Bablu Yadav, the owner of the vehicle used by the accused, was driving at the time of the incident.
Authorities are optimistic about locating him soon and bringing him to justice. Yadav is known to be a businessman.
The tragic death of Sutandra has left her mother, Tanushree Chattopadhyay, who lost her husband last year, utterly devastated.
She has accused the police of intentionally attempting to protect the young men involved in this case.
