Bengaluru, April 11 (NationPress) The Karnataka Police have taken action by arresting four individuals and detaining a minor on Friday concerning a case of moral policing reported within the jurisdiction of the Chandra Layout police station in Bengaluru.

The suspects allegedly confronted a Muslim woman for engaging in conversation with a Hindu youth. They subjected her to verbal abuse and attempted to physically assault her.

The individuals apprehended have been identified as Maheem, Afridi, Wasim, and Anjum. Additionally, the police are interrogating the minor boy involved in the altercation.

According to law enforcement, the woman, clad in a burqa, was conversing with a Hindu youth who was seated on his bike in the Chandra Layout area. The group of accused approached them and interrogated the woman, questioning why she was affectionately speaking to a Hindu boy while dressed in a burqa.

The group reportedly insulted her, questioning whether she possessed any shame or self-respect. They also demanded that she share her family members' phone numbers for direct communication.

Despite their intimidation, the woman stood her ground and challenged the group, questioning their intrusion into her personal affairs. She asserted that the person she was speaking with was her classmate and why she should divulge her family's contact information.

Angered by her defiance, the group allegedly attempted to assault both her and the Hindu youth. Following this, the accused disseminated a video of the two conversing on social media, which quickly went viral.

In the aftermath of the video’s circulation, several Hindu organizations and activists expressed their outrage, questioning Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on whether this incident constituted moral policing. They further criticized the state government, rhetorically asking if Sharia law had been enacted in Karnataka.

The Chandra Layout police promptly registered a case and arrested the suspects.
