Belagavi, March 17 (NationPress) Law enforcement officials apprehended four individuals on Monday linked to a case of moral policing and initiated a search for two suspects who remain at large in the Belagavi district of Karnataka.

The episode occurred a few days prior within the jurisdiction of the Belagavi Rural Police station. The individual filing the complaint, Allauddin Pirzade, is a resident of Savagaon village in the district. Those arrested include Satish Jadhav, Sumit, Veeresh, and another unidentified person.

According to law enforcement, Allauddin was assaulted by this group for conversing with a girl from the Hindu community in the outskirts of the village.

After beating him, the group further threatened that if he were seen speaking to the girl again, there would be serious repercussions. Following the attack, Allauddin approached the Belagavi rural police to file a complaint and requested protection.

Allauddin arrived at the police station in tattered clothing after the incident to report the matter. Further details regarding the case are still forthcoming.

On January 24, a Mangauru court ordered the judicial custody of 14 individuals until February 7 in relation to another case of moral policing involving Rama Sene activists who attacked a massage parlour in Mangaluru, alleging unlawful activities.

In a notorious case in Haveri district from March 2024, police have submitted a charge sheet in the Hangal gang-rape incident allegedly perpetrated by moral vigilantes. The charge sheet, comprising 873 pages, was presented to the Hangal JMFC Court.

Nineteen individuals were arrested in connection with this case, including seven suspected of committing the gang rape. The charge sheet has identified all 19 suspects.

The victim of the moral policing incident released a video on January 11, detailing her repeated assaults by vigilantes in Haveri district of Karnataka.

She was forcibly removed from a hotel after being spotted with a person of a different religion and was assaulted on January 8.

The victim, who belongs to a minority community, recounted that while at the hotel, a group of five to six men burst in, interrogated her, and forcibly took her away on their motorcycles. They transported her to a secluded area where she was brutally assaulted and subsequently raped.
