Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal holds Gram Vikas Chaupal in Banswara tribal village, clears ₹43 lakh in local projects
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma on Thursday, 22 May 2025, visited the remote tribal village of Chuda in Banswara district as part of the state government's Gram Vikas Chaupal initiative, holding an open-air public grievance session under a peepal tree and resolving multiple local issues on the spot. The visit, which began with a night chaupal on Wednesday and continued into Thursday morning, saw the Chief Minister walk through village lanes, interact with residents, and direct immediate administrative action on several demands.
Chaupal Under the Peepal Tree
Seated under a peepal tree in the heart of Chuda village, CM Sharma heard grievances related to water supply, infrastructure, and local development. Taking immediate cognisance, he directed the district administration to construct an anicut on the Hiran River to strengthen both irrigation and drinking water facilities in the area. He also visited the Maa Bari Centre, interacted with children, distributed chocolates, and urged villagers to keep youth away from drug addiction.
Key Approvals and Spending Decisions
During informal discussions over tea with villagers, the Chief Minister approved several development projects on the spot. These included ₹16.20 lakh for a Maa Bari Centre in Thummath village, ₹20 lakh for a single-phase tubewell at Thummath intersection, and ₹7 lakh for interlocking and beautification work at the Maa Baleshwar Dayal temple complex in Chuda village. He also directed officials to construct two classrooms in the local government school and establish a milk collection centre near the village.
Medical Officer Placed on APO After Complaint
In a significant administrative development during the visit, employees raised complaints about alleged financial irregularities involving Kushalgarh Block Chief Medical Officer Dr Girish Bhabhor. Taking the matter seriously, CM Sharma directed officials to initiate immediate action. Following his instructions, the Medical Department placed Dr Bhabhor on Awaiting Posting Order (APO).
Compassionate Transfer and Water Conservation Push
The Chief Minister also responded to a personal appeal by Roshni Kalaal, whose husband Hemendra Kumar Kalaal — an Assistant Engineer in the Public Health Engineering Department — was serving in Sagwara. She sought his transfer to Banswara to facilitate treatment for their son's cerebral palsy. Sharma directed the transfer to the Executive Engineer's office in Banswara, and orders were issued on the spot.
Addressing farmers, CM Sharma invoked Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay's vision of 'Antyodaya' — ensuring welfare reaches the last person — and stressed water conservation. 'There is no alternative to water. Every drop must be utilised wisely,' he said, urging adoption of micro-irrigation, rainwater harvesting, pond construction, and modern farming practices. He also encouraged integration of animal husbandry and fruit cultivation to boost farmer incomes.
Among those present were Tribal Area Development Minister Babulal Kharari, Revenue Minister Hemant Meena, and Cooperation Minister Gautam Kumar Dak, along with local representatives and villagers. Earlier, the Chief Minister paid floral tribute at the statue of Saint Mama Baleshwar Dayal.
