Bhupesh Baghel Calls for Public Release of CCTV Footage Following FIR Against Rahul Gandhi

Raipur, Dec 20 (NationPress) In light of the rising tensions over a recent altercation within the Parliament premises and the FIR filed against Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, prominent Congress leader and former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has called for the disclosure of the CCTV footage related to the incident.
In an interview with IANS, Baghel expressed his disbelief over the lack of CCTV evidence, despite the high-security measures in place at the Parliament complex. He remarked, "Even 24 hours post-incident, there is no CCTV footage. Every area of the Parliament complex is monitored. This is evidently a concocted accusation aimed at tarnishing Rahul Gandhi's image and diverting the public's attention from significant issues. They will stop at nothing to accomplish this."
Baghel also directed his criticism towards Union Home Minister Amit Shah, accusing him of making 'provocative' statements.
"What they truly think has been revealed through Amit Shah's words. The BJP shows neither respect for the Constitution nor for its architect, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. This is precisely why such disparaging comments were made about Ambedkar. Our party president and Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, have called for Amit Shah's resignation and a formal apology," Baghel stated during the interview.
The conflict arose amid separate protests by MPs from both BJP and Congress, each side accusing the other of disrespecting Dalit leader B.R. Ambedkar. The BJP claims that two of its MPs sustained injuries during the incident, alleging that Rahul Gandhi initiated physical violence and incited others. An FIR was subsequently registered against him following a complaint from the BJP.
The Congress party has firmly refuted these allegations. Rahul Gandhi has asserted that it was BJP members who were the aggressors, claiming they shoved and threatened him while he was trying to enter the Parliament House. The Congress has also filed a complaint related to this incident.
Discussing the law and order situation in Chhattisgarh, Baghel criticized the state government's performance under the BJP, raising alarms about the safety of marginalized groups.
"The law and order situation in Chhattisgarh is dire. Numerous incidents underscore this reality. Under this administration, neither tribals nor Dalits are secure," he commented.
