Bihar Administration Prolongs Land Survey Timeline by Half a Year

Patna, Dec 3 (NationPress) The Bihar administration has granted considerable relief to citizens concerning ongoing land survey challenges by extending the survey timeline by half a year.
“An extra 180 working days for self-declaration, 60 working days for Raiyat claims, and 60 working days for claim resolution, totaling 300 days for the survey process,” stated S Siddhartha, the additional chief secretary of the Land Reforms and Revenue Department.
Such a decision was made during a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at the central hall of the cabinet secretariat office in Patna, where 33 agendas were approved, including the extension of the land survey.
Land Reforms and Revenue Minister Dilip Jaiswal assured during the winter session that no official or employee would hinder the public during the survey process.
The government intends to revise the land survey regulations to ensure a smoother implementation. He also proposed to introduce 13 types of exemptions to make the process more efficient and assist the public.
These proposals were presented in the cabinet on Tuesday and received formal approval.
Observers suggest that the survey is unlikely to conclude before the upcoming Assembly elections, with the government being cautious about potential public discontent regarding the land survey.
In a meeting, the state government also approved 32 other agendas alongside the extension of the land survey. These decisions are expected to tackle broader governance and administrative objectives.
Some of the other agendas include job creation in the agriculture department, an allocation of Rs 139 crore for the salaries of contractual employees in the rural work department, and Rs 354 crore approved for waste management in 5635 village Panchayats and more.
