Patna, Dec 4 (NationPress) The Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar and Minister for Revenue and Land Reforms, Vijay Kumar Sinha, held an extensive review of departmental activities on Thursday and instructed officials to closely monitor the land mafia.
He expressed grave concerns regarding the increasing number of land disputes in the state, highlighting the involvement of mafia groups in the creation of forged land documents. These groups reportedly intimidate citizens during legal proceedings.
Upon receiving complaints, he mandated the formation of a high-level investigation team, ensuring that strict measures would be taken against those found guilty under the relevant sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sahita.
Furthermore, he mentioned that, if necessary, new legislation could be enacted with the Central government’s assistance to combat these unlawful activities.
In response to increasing complaints regarding e-measurement, Sinha ordered rigorous monitoring to facilitate seamless land measurement for tenants and to prevent arbitrary practices by Amins.
He directed an evaluation of Amins' performance across various zones, informing officials that adherence to the prescribed e-measurement report format is now compulsory.
“To address issues arising from outdated land records written in Kaithi script, we have instructed officials to compile a district-wise list of Kaithi script experts and display their names in all zonal offices. Additionally, extensive public awareness campaigns regarding this initiative are required,” Sinha stated.
He also called for a detailed action plan to enhance user engagement on the BiharBhoomi portal.
Focusing on public convenience, Sinha directed all registry offices to actively promote that mutation applications must be submitted within 90 days of registration, ensuring timely and rule-compliant processing.
Present during this review were Department Secretary Jai Singh, Secretary Gopal Meena, Special Secretary Arun Kumar Singh, along with several other officials.
