Bihar: Farmers in Vaishali Share How PM-KISAN Transformed Their Lives

Vaishali (Bihar), Dec 4 (NationPress) The agricultural community in Vaishali district of Bihar is feeling positive about their future due to the advantages gained from the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KISAN). This initiative has empowered them to achieve self-reliance and improved their financial circumstances.
With the Rs 6,000 assistance provided through the scheme, they are able to purchase fertilizers and seeds, while also exploring innovative farming techniques.
In a conversation with IANS, local farmer Chandra Bhushan Rai stated, "Previously, we encountered numerous challenges in farming, but thanks to PM-KISAN, we can now engage in agricultural practices that include organic farming and various other methods."
He further added, "We sell our produce in the local market. The overall situation has improved significantly, and our earnings from farming have increased."
Another farmer, Umesh Rai, remarked, "This initiative has enabled us to purchase seeds and fertilizers. We receive an amount of Rs 11,000 per acre for fertilizers to support organic farming."
He continued, "Previously, we struggled in farming due to financial constraints, especially when growing paddy and wheat, and cultivating vegetables was particularly challenging. Now that we've received financial support, the farming process has become much easier and our situation has improved greatly."
Additionally, he mentioned, "We have initiated tomato cultivation and expanded into growing vegetables. We are now practicing double cropping, which has led to better production and improved sales of our produce."
The focus of the PM-KISAN scheme is to assist the financial needs of Small and Marginal Farmers (SMFs) in acquiring necessary inputs for maintaining crop health and achieving suitable yields.
Under this scheme, a direct payment of Rs 6,000 is disbursed annually in three equal installments of Rs 2,000 every four months into the beneficiaries' bank accounts.
This central government initiative is fully funded by the Government of India, with funds being directly transferred to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.
