Vaishali (Bihar), July 7 (NationPress) The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN), inaugurated on February 2, 2019, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has become a game changer for the agricultural landscape. The financial aid from this scheme has significantly benefitted the farming community, helping them overcome challenges and boost their agricultural yield.
Every qualifying farming household receives Rs 6,000 annually, split into three payments of Rs 2,000 every four months. This amount is directly transferred to the beneficiaries' bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
Farmers in Bihar’s Vaishali district have shared their experiences with IANS, detailing how this financial support has improved their agricultural productivity.
One beneficiary, Ravindra Prasad Singh, remarked that farming was once fraught with difficulties, but the assistance provided under the PM-KISAN scheme has made it much easier, thanks to government support.
He stated, "Previously, we lacked any assistance, which created numerous challenges. Now, with the backing provided by this scheme, farmers feel relieved and content."
Another beneficiary, Surendra Dev, noted that crop yields have increased by two and a half times compared to before.
With a family history of farming spanning 40 years and sufficient water resources, he mentioned that timely access to capital was previously a struggle.
“The Prime Minister has addressed the needs of farmers, and this has become a true blessing for us. We are deeply grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he expressed.
It’s noteworthy that PM Modi launched the latest 19th installment of the PM-KISAN scheme earlier this year in Bhagalpur, benefiting over 9.8 crore farmers, including 2.41 crore female farmers nationwide. Financial support exceeding Rs 22,000 crore was transferred directly into beneficiaries’ accounts, underscoring the Modi government’s dedication to enhancing farmer welfare and promoting agricultural prosperity.
