Patna, April 1 (NationPress) An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and two Home Guard members are facing serious consequences following the circulation of a video showcasing police misconduct on social media.

The recorded incident, which took place on NH-19 in Mohania, depicts officers reportedly attacking a driver while soliciting a bribe.

In response to the disturbing footage, Kaimur SP Harimohan Shukla has suspended ASI Prabhat Kumar and recommended the cessation of duties for the two Home Guard personnel to the district magistrate.

An investigation led by an officer of the SDPO rank has also been initiated.

“Upon learning of the misconduct incident, SI Prabhat Kumar was swiftly suspended. A communication has been sent to the District Magistrate for the termination of the two Home Guard personnel,” stated Shukla.

As per police reports, SI Prabhat Kumar and his DAIL 112 team were stationed at an Integrated check post when they halted a truck and allegedly demanded a bribe to allow it passage.

The footage reveals them striking a driver with a baton and forcing him into a police vehicle after the victim reportedly declined to pay the bribe.

In the aftermath, the RJD, Bihar’s primary opposition party, swiftly criticized Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's government. The party shared the viral video on its official X (Twitter) account, asserting that police officers have turned to extortion due to the so-called “DK tax.”

“You must bribe the Bihar Police! Either face violence or concede your money quietly! With elections approaching, officers are under increased pressure to extort more funds for Nitish Kumar and BJP to utilize in the elections!” the RJD tweeted.
