New Delhi, Feb 15 (NationPress) The Bihar Road Construction Department has established a rehabilitation policy aimed at supporting families displaced by the Ganga Bridge Project in the Patna and Vaishali districts.
This policy includes provisions for allocating land to families who lack housing in Patna or Hajipur.
Deputy Chief Minister and Road Construction Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha recognized numerous complaints regarding the rehabilitation of affected families and instructed departmental officials to assess the current situation.
“Under the rehabilitation initiative, a total of 109 houses were constructed in Hajipur; however, only 17 of these houses have been assigned to families. The remaining 92 houses remain unoccupied and are in a state of disrepair, rendering them unsuitable for habitation. We have directed officials to address the construction of these houses and ensure allotments for the displaced families,” Sinha stated.
“In addition, the department will evaluate 514 plots across 7.7 acres in Patna. A completely vacant plot of 50,000 square feet may be repurposed for infrastructure development,” he added.
The Chief Engineer has been assigned to conduct a site survey of the 50,000-square-foot area. To facilitate effective land use, a committee has been established, led by the Chairman of the Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation Limited.
“This committee includes the Chief Engineer, the Chief Engineer of the South Division, and the Chief Engineer of the Monitoring Division. They are required to submit a comprehensive report within 15 days, upon which a new construction plan will be devised,” Sinha mentioned.
Sinha noted that the vacant land adjacent to JP Setu and along the banks of the Ganga River will be developed to house the displaced families.
Deputy CM Sinha stressed that under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the Road Construction Department is dedicated to enhancing transportation and developing infrastructure across Bihar.
This initiative encompasses not only roads and bridges but also aims for comprehensive urban development and rehabilitation for the displaced.
