Patna, Feb 24 (NationPress) The government led by Nitish Kumar has reallocated 83 Block Development Officers (BDOs) from the Rural Development Department on Monday.
An official stated that those who had not yet been assigned a post must report to the department without delay. Meanwhile, those BDOs already in position are required to report to their new districts as indicated by the transfer orders.
“The salary for March 2025 will be issued from the newly designated district. The full list of the transferred officers has been made available on the official website of the Rural Development Department,” the official noted.
Vimal Kumar, previously in Darbhanga, has been reassigned to Lakhnaur in Madhubani district. Mukesh Kumar, who was stationed in Patna, is now responsible for the Islampur block in Nalanda district. Om Rajput, formerly the BDO in Samastipur, has been moved to the Piprasi block of West Champaran district. Shivesh Kumar Singh, who served in Saharsa district, is now transferred to Pipra block in Supaul district, and Manoj Kumar, previously in Nawada, has been assigned to Sampatchak block of Patna district.
A similar significant transfer of BDOs occurred in July 2023, when 245 officers were moved. That action also encountered allegations and controversies.
Recently, on February 12, 2025, the General Administration Department of the Bihar government executed transfers for several senior IAS officers.
Among these, Dinesh Kumar, the Divisional Commissioner of Bhagalpur, has taken on additional responsibilities as Commissioner of Munger Division. Animesh Kumar Parashar, the Patna Municipal Corporation Commissioner, now also serves as MD of Bihar Urban Infrastructure Corporation. Ahmed Mahmood, the Additional Secretary in Science, Technology & Technical Education, has been appointed Director of Technical Education.
The reshuffling of 83 BDOs, along with the recent IAS transfers, is regarded as a calculated administrative strategy in advance of the Bihar Assembly elections.
