Ranchi, June 23 (NationPress) Ruby, also referred to as Bhabhi Ji, has turned herself in, claiming to be the mastermind behind a brown sugar distribution network that spans various cities in Jharkhand, including Ranchi. This was confirmed by police officials on Monday.
Hailing from Mochi Tola in Sasaram, Bihar, Ruby was placed in a three-day police custody by the Sukhdev Nagar police station in Ranchi last week, where she was interrogated concerning her involvement in the illicit drug trade.
After her questioning, she appeared in court on Monday and was subsequently remanded to Birsa Munda Central Jail in judicial custody.
Ranchi police had conducted numerous raids over the past six months to apprehend Bhabhi Ji, who consistently evaded capture.
Ultimately, under increasing pressure, she surrendered to a court in Ranchi last week. There are currently six cases filed against her at the Sukhdev Nagar police station.
Since January, the Ranchi police have arrested over ten individuals involved in the brown sugar trade.
During their interrogations, these individuals identified Sasaram as the origin point and named a woman known as Bhabhi Ji as the primary supplier.
Her identity first came to light in January when Ranchi’s Kotwali DSP Prakash Soy detained three drug peddlers with 12 grams of brown sugar. The investigation gained momentum last month when a young woman named Sezal Khan, along with her partner Suraj Kumar, was arrested from Noor Nagar in Ranchi with 110 grams of brown sugar and Rs 4.5 lakh in cash. Sezal also implicated Bhabhi Ji as the supplier.
The police have stated that Ruby confessed to manufacturing brown sugar herself and managing the supply network with the assistance of her husband, brother-in-law, and other family members. She admitted to being aware of police raids and would retreat to safe locations prior to any operations.
During her interrogation, Ruby disclosed vital information regarding the sources of raw materials and pricing structures, which the police are currently utilizing to trace the larger supply chain.
Further actions based on her revelations are now in progress.
