Patna, April 17 (NationPress) Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary asserted on Thursday that the opposition is instigating a situation akin to the CAA concerning the Waqf (Amendment) Act.

“Much like the demonstrations surrounding the CAA, a misleading narrative is now being fostered regarding the Waqf Act. When the CAA was enacted, there were allegations that Muslims would be expelled from the country; that did not occur, and nothing of the sort will happen following the Waqf Act,” the Deputy Chief Minister remarked during the event named ‘Sukriya Modi Ji’ in Patna, celebrating the introduction of the new Waqf Act.

He further emphasized the progress achieved under the NDA government, particularly under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

“Under Nitish Kumar's administration, over 50,000 graveyards have been secured with fencing, and work is ongoing for 1,200 additional sites. Our government has established ‘Talimi Markaz’ to promote free education for children from underprivileged Muslim families,” he stated.

He noted that scholarships have been made available to various communities: minorities, Dalits, tribals, EBC, OBC, and even students from the general category.

“Only two universities were constructed during the Lalu-Rabri tenure from 1990 to 2005, but under Nitish Kumar (2005–present), Bihar boasts 33 universities, compared to merely eight before 1990,” he asserted.

He added that Nitish’s leadership has allowed children from Dalit and backward classes to pursue education.

The Waqf (Amendment) Act has ignited nationwide discussions, particularly among opposition factions and minority groups.
