Party president and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Odisha Assembly, Naveen Patnaik, made the announcement on Friday regarding the suspension of the district's president and vice president.
Ganeswar Baral, Vice President of the Zilla Parishad in Jajpur District, has been suspended from the BJD for his involvement in activities detrimental to the party, as stated in an order issued by party vice president Pratap Jena.
Another order confirmed the suspension of Nalini Prabha Jena, President of the Zilla Parishad in Jajpur District, effective immediately, due to her involvement in anti-party activities.
On Thursday, BJP President Naveen Patnaik had already suspended Arvind Mohapatra, MLA of Patkura, and Sanatan Mahakud, MLA of Champua, for their alleged participation in activities against the party.
The statement issued on Thursday indicated that both MLAs faced immediate suspension for breaching party guidelines.
In response to the suspensions of the MLAs, BJD spokesperson and Media Coordinator Lenin Mohanty stated, "Naveen Patnaik does not tolerate corrupt traitors. The actions of Arvind Mohapatra and Sanatan Mahakud were in violation of party principles and following thorough consideration, both have been suspended immediately."
Furthermore, the spokesperson noted that party members throughout Odisha welcomed Patnaik's decision to suspend Mohapatra and Mahakud on Thursday evening.
He emphasized that all party members are expected to comply with the party's constitution and established guidelines, reaffirming that the BJD leadership consistently enforces strict action against those who violate these principles.
Meanwhile, senior BJD leader and chief whip, Pramila Mallik, expressed her support for the decision, describing it as a necessary action to "clear the dirt" from the party.
