In a press release, Mohanty emphasized that under the visionary leadership of Naveen Patnaik, the BJD has become one of the most prosperous regional parties in the nation, boasting a membership that surpasses one crore.
He pointed out that all party members are required to strictly follow the party constitution and the established regulations. The BJD leadership has consistently taken decisive action against those who violate the party’s rules and guidelines.
“Naveen Patnaik has zero tolerance for corrupt traitors. The Odisha Legislative Assembly members, Shri Arvind Mohapatra and Shri Sanatan Mahakud, have breached these guidelines. After thorough consideration and due process, both have been suspended from the party effective immediately,” Mohanty remarked.
The BJD spokesperson further mentioned that party workers across Odisha have warmly embraced Patnaik's decision to suspend Mohapatra and Mahakud on Thursday evening. In a significant turn of events, BJD president Patnaik suspended Patkura MLA Arvind Mohapatra and Champua MLA Sanatan Mahakud over their suspected involvement in anti-party activities.
“Shri Arvind Mohapatra, MLA and Shri Sanatan Mahakud, MLA are officially suspended from Biju Janata Dal immediately for their participation in anti-party actions,” a statement issued on Thursday stated.
Meanwhile, Mohapatra, son of former minister and prominent leader Bijoy Mohapatra, who represents the Patkura constituency in Kendrapara district, refuted any allegations of anti-party involvement.
“I just discovered the news of my suspension through social media. I am unaware of the reasons behind my suspension. I am not involved in any anti-party activities and have been actively working for the party in my constituency,” Mohapatra stated.
Mohapatra also asserted that he has no ties with any factions within the party nor has he made any statements that could tarnish the party’s reputation. He indicated that he would meet with party leader Naveen Patnaik regarding the situation and then address the media.
