Ludhiana, Feb 12 (NationPress) The Punjab unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Pritpal Singh Baliawal on Thursday accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of intentionally misleading farmers and participants in the dairy sector in Punjab.

Baliawal emphasized that the agreement fully protects sensitive agricultural and dairy products and excludes any clauses that could negatively impact Punjab’s interests.

He also showcased the Joint Press Statement pertaining to the India-US agreement to the media.

He challenged state Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, questioning why AAP minister Sanjeev Arora and Rajya Sabha MP Rajinder Gupta have publicly lauded the agreement if it truly poses a threat to farmers and industries.

Baliawal claimed the opposition is disseminating false narratives, stating that the proposed trade agreement would severely harm Punjab’s agriculture and dairy sectors, while he believes the state’s essential interests have been thoroughly protected under the agreement.

He further criticized the AAP government for fostering unnecessary panic and confusion among the populace without any official documentation to back its claims.

Baliawal challenged the state government to disclose any documents indicating potential losses to Punjab’s farming, dairy, or industry resulting from the agreement.

He reassured that the interests of farmers and dairy producers will remain intact in the future. He added that the agreement is anticipated to open new investment opportunities, enhance exports, and increase farmers’ income.

On this occasion, district BJP President Rajneesh Dhiman, District Vice President Naval Jain, Press Secretary Satish Kumar, Social Media Secretary Rajan Pandhe, spokesperson Surinder Kaushal, Saurav Kapoor, and other party officials were present.

Point of View

It is crucial to present a balanced perspective on the political dynamics in Punjab. The accusations made by the BJP against the AAP government reflect deep-rooted political tensions. While claims of misleading information are serious, it is essential to seek factual evidence before drawing conclusions. The ongoing dialogue surrounding the India-US agreement will likely continue to evolve, impacting farmers and the agricultural landscape in Punjab.
