Agartala, March 5 (NationPress) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President J.P. Nadda is set to address a grand public rally in Agartala on March 9 to commemorate the second anniversary of the Manik Saha-led BJP 2.0 government in Tripura.

During a recent announcement regarding the celebrations for the second anniversary of the BJP-led government, Tripura's party President Rajib Bhattacharjee revealed that a high-level committee has been established with senior minister Ratan Lal Nath at the helm to ensure a record turnout at the rally.

Besides J.P. Nadda, several leaders including Chief Minister Manik Saha will also address the public event, which is scheduled to take place at the Swami Vivekananda stadium.

Bhattacharjee, who is also a Rajya Sabha member, emphasized the numerous achievements of the BJP government in Tripura over the last seven years. He noted that the state government has initiated a significant campaign against the drug problem and illegal drug trades to make the state 'drug free'.

According to him, the state police and various law enforcement agencies have apprehended 4,276 drug peddlers and have filed 2,308 cases under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act 1985.

Additionally, the BJP leader mentioned that more than 47,600 Self Help Groups (SHGs) have been established in Tripura, providing numerous individuals, mainly women, with opportunities to profit from their various business endeavors across the state.

Among these SHG members, over 91,000 women have become 'Lakhpati Didis' through their participation in diverse production and enterprise activities, Bhattacharjee stated.

He remarked that due to the prevailing peaceful law and order situation, a favorable environment has been created, prompting numerous industrialists to sign multiple MoUs recently to establish industries in various sectors.

During a media briefing, senior minister Nath stated that with the backing of the Central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tripura has achieved significant progress across nearly all sectors, particularly in connectivity and infrastructure.

The per capita income of the state's residents has increased to Rs 1,77,723, he added.

Nath also mentioned that the BJP government has launched the Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana to provide universal health benefits to the state's populace, alongside the establishment of nine super-speciality units in government hospitals, and the commencement of the 150-bed privately run new 'Shanti Niketan Medical College and Hospital'.

He concluded by stating that in many aspects, Tripura now holds a leading position among states in the nation.
