Is Akhil Gogoi Misleading the Public Over Voter Deletion Claims?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Guwahati, Jan 9 (NationPress) In light of recent accusations regarding voter deletion amid the ongoing electoral roll revision in Assam, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has responded vigorously to Raijor Dal president Akhil Gogoi. The BJP has charged Gogoi with deceiving the public through fabricated narratives.
BJP leader Kamal Kumar Medhi dismissed the allegations put forth by Gogoi as "imaginary tales," claiming that he has been engaged in such behavior for nearly two decades.
Medhi stated that while some individuals may temporarily believe Gogoi's claims, the truth has consistently emerged, revealing them as untrue.
"Over the last 20 years, a majority of the allegations made by Akhil Gogoi have proven to be baseless and self-serving,** said Medhi, emphasizing that Gogoi has a pattern of "inventing stories" and repeating them publicly.
He sarcastically noted that Gogoi first fabricates narratives in his mind before presenting them to the public and the media.
"While a few may mistakenly perceive fiction as fact, the general populace eventually recognizes these as mere fabricated tales," he added.
Medhi further argued that due to this consistent pattern, the public no longer takes Gogoi's statements seriously.
"Today, many regard such statements simply as a source of amusement. If there were a storytelling competition, he would undoubtedly take the top prize," he remarked.
Regarding the recent claims about voter deletion, Medhi pointed out that these assertions lack concrete evidence or documentation.
He accused the opposition, including the Congress party, of hastily supporting Gogoi's statements without verifying their validity.
Medhi criticized the opposition as being "confused and directionless," asserting that they have "failed" to present any credible political concerns.
He confidently claimed that the people of Assam continue to have faith in the BJP-led government under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, asserting that indigenous communities and Indian citizens feel safe under the party's leadership.
He also alleged that the opposition is primarily motivated by appeasement politics, particularly aimed at consolidating Miya Muslim votes, but affirmed that the people of Assam are capable of discerning the truth.
