Is Akhil Gogoi Just an Entertainer for Politicians? Assam CM Thinks So!
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Guwahati, Jan 10 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, made a pointed remark on Saturday regarding Akhil Gogoi, the President of Raijor Dal, describing him as merely an entertainer for politicians due to his social media antics. Speaking to journalists, CM Sarma stated, "Akhil Gogoi should not be taken seriously. I find his Facebook Live sessions entertaining and would encourage him to keep broadcasting for our amusement."
Furthermore, the Chief Minister dismissed Gogoi's claims of "vote theft" concerning the Special Revision (SR) of electoral rolls in the state. "The voter roll revision aims to ensure a transparent and fair election process. Opposition parties are welcome to raise genuine concerns about missing individuals from the electoral rolls. However, both the Congress and Gogoi should refrain from exploiting every situation to criticize the BJP," he added.
Previously, BJP spokesperson Kamal Kumar Medhi had also characterized Gogoi's claims as "fabricated tales," asserting that he has engaged in such behavior for almost two decades. Medhi noted that while some may initially be tempted by Gogoi's assertions, time has consistently revealed them to be unfounded.
He remarked, "In the last 20 years, many of the allegations put forth by Akhil Gogoi have ultimately been proven to be baseless and self-serving. He tends to invent stories that he then repeatedly shares with the public." Medhi further commented that Gogoi crafts fictional narratives in his mind before presenting them to the public and media.
Although a few may briefly confuse fiction with reality, the public ultimately recognizes these as mere fabrications, he stated. Medhi concluded that due to this repetitive pattern, many now regard Gogoi's statements as nothing more than sources of entertainment. "If there were a contest for storytelling, Gogoi would surely be a frontrunner," he quipped.
