BJP Claims Karnataka Government Has Yielded to Naxals Instead of the Other Way Around

Chitradurga (Karnataka), Jan 11 (NationPress) The Karnataka Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, has criticized the state government, alleging that it has surrendered to Naxals instead of the Naxals surrendering to the government.

Speaking to the press in Chitradurga city after his visit to the Guru Madara Channaiah Mutt on Saturday, Narayanaswamy remarked, "The Naxals have not surrendered to the government. Rather, the government has given in to the Naxals. How were these Naxals, who had been difficult to track for so long, suddenly located?"

He highlighted that the Naxals surrendered without any arms or weapons, raising concerns about the location of their weaponry.

"Where did their weapons go? Are there additional Naxals, and have these arms been transferred to them? Such queries naturally arise," he stated.

Sources indicate that the Karnataka police have discovered the stash of weapons belonging to surrendered Maoists in the Meguru forest within Chikkamagaluru district. On Saturday, it was confirmed that the police recovered firearms including AK-56 rifles, revolvers, pistols, and live ammunition after a two-day search.

However, no official announcement has been made regarding this, providing ammunition for the Opposition party in the state.

Narayanaswamy further condemned the way the surrender occurred, stating, "Naxals should present themselves to the police or the court. It is inappropriate for their surrender to happen at the Chief Minister’s office."

The individuals who surrendered included Mundagaru Latha from Mundagaru in Sringeri, Vanajakshi from Balehole in Kalasa, Sundari from Kutluru near Mangaluru, Marappa Jayanna Aroli from Raichur, Vasantha T. (also known as Ramesh) from Tamil Nadu, and T.N. Jeesha from Kerala, all surrendering in the presence of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Meanwhile, attacking the state government, Narayanaswamy said, "This government is shielding corrupt individuals and is itself engulfed in corruption. Party leaders are in conflict over the Chief Minister’s position. They lack even the freedom to hold a dinner meeting. A divide-and-rule strategy has been implemented in the state. Additionally, a mafia is functioning against Dalits, with the government working against Dalit interests."

He further accused, "The Congress party is dominated by a few families, including those of AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, Minister for Food K.H. Muniyappa, and Minister for Social Welfare H.C. Mahadevappa. There is no room for other Dalit leaders within the party. A mafia is ensuring that no one else becomes Chief Minister apart from them."
