Palakkad, May 23 (NationPress) BJP councillor Mini Krishnakumar from Palakkad has approached the National Investigating Agency and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to investigate allegations against rapper Vedan for purportedly insulting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in one of his musical pieces.

Krishnakumar raised concerns regarding Vedan's rap, which debuted over four years ago.

"As citizens of India, it's unacceptable for anyone to belittle our Prime Minister and label him as a 'fake nationalist' through their songs," expressed Krishnakumar.

She questioned the appropriateness of such remarks, emphasizing that cultural figures wield significant influence and should be cautious in their messaging. "Cultural icons with large followings must not disseminate harmful narratives about the PM. Any effort to create divisions among Hindus is detrimental for someone in the cultural sphere," she added.

Krishnakumar stated that her complaint enjoys the backing of the BJP.

She clarified that her intention is not to undermine creative freedom, but that it should adhere to widely accepted standards.

Vedan, whose birth name is Hirandas Murali, has been in the spotlight for controversial reasons.

A local court in Perumbavoor granted him bail on April 30 concerning a case involving a tiger's tooth.

Prior to that, he was apprehended by the State Excise Department at his rented residence in Kochi, where officials discovered 6 grams of ganja, which Vedan admitted to smoking. He was released on bail the same day.

Post his release, he received substantial support from the CPI-M-led Left Front and Congress-led UDF, who alleged he was being unfairly targeted.

His next public appearance after gaining freedom drew a tremendous response.
