Key Takeaways
Jaipur, Feb 26 (NationPress) The Rajasthan Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President and Rajya Sabha MP Madan Rathore stated on Thursday that the party is thoroughly equipped to give a warm reception to the world's most admired leader, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his upcoming visit to Ajmer on February 28.
He mentioned that the populace is excited to hear insights from their beloved leader on geopolitical matters, national concerns, and the global landscape in nations striving for peace and harmony.
People are keen to grasp India’s position on these critical issues, and hence the BJP is working in collaboration with the Rajasthan government to ensure the event's success, as articulated by the Rajasthan BJP Chief in an exclusive interview with IANS. Here are the highlights from the conversation:
Q: What preparations are underway in Ajmer for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit?
Ans: A significant crowd is anticipated to hear the Prime Minister's thoughts on both national and international developments. Prime Minister Modi is recognized globally and has received numerous prestigious awards from various nations. The public is eager to hear his thoughts on geopolitical developments, domestic issues, economic challenges, and global conflicts. Residents are particularly interested in India's stance on matters like regional security, Pakistan, and the situation in neighboring Bangladesh. The Prime Minister will be addressing a public gathering in central Rajasthan, close to Ajay Meru (Ajmer). Although this is a government event, the BJP is committed to ensuring its success, with thousands expected to attend and proper arrangements already in place.
Q: What is your opinion on the Rajasthan government's decision to eliminate the two-child policy for local elections?
Ans: The state’s choice to abolish the two-child policy for contesting local elections is commendable. Experience and capability should be the primary factors in politics. Many seasoned leaders exist in public service. Denying a competent individual the chance to run for elections simply due to having more than two children would be unjust. While the initial rule aimed at population control, societal dynamics have transformed. When demographic ratios shift, imposing selective restrictions results in unfairness. All eligible candidates should receive a fair chance. In that light, this decision seems fitting.
Q: What are your thoughts on the Rajasthan government appealing to the Supreme Court regarding the upcoming civic elections?
Ans: The BJP is entirely prepared for the elections. Whenever the call for elections is made, we are ready to engage in the electoral process. The previous ward delimitation conducted under the Congress-led Rajasthan government was irregular. Some wards had approximately 800 voters, while others had nearly 8,000. This disparity was inequitable and allegedly favored certain candidates. The BJP advocates for a fair and balanced distribution of wards to ensure adequate representation. Currently, various legal and procedural matters are at play, including issues concerning the tenure of certain Panchayat Samitis and the OBC Commission. Regulations dictate that elections should occur within six months before or after the completion of tenure. These samitis still have over nine months of tenure remaining. Thus, these matters are being evaluated. From our end, we are ready. Once the Election Commission announces the timeline, the BJP will be fully poised for action.
