Bengaluru, Jan 29 (NationPress) The ongoing disputes within the BJP's Karnataka faction have erupted publicly, as Chikballapur MP and former minister K. Sudhakar openly criticized state President B.Y. Vijayendra on Wednesday, cautioning that if national leaders do not intervene, the party's future is at stake.

Speaking to the media in Bengaluru, Sudhakar conveyed his discontent, mentioning that his treatment since transferring from Congress to BJP has been unsatisfactory.

"I became a part of the BJP because I believed in its democratic values and the principles of the RSS. I contested from Chikkaballapur, a region where the BJP was previously absent. Seventeen individuals, including myself, joined the BJP to support B.S. Yediyurappa as Chief Minister. After Yediyurappa’s resignation, I collaborated closely with CM Basavaraj Bommai. Yet, those who profess to be building the party targeted me to secure my defeat," Sudhakar stated, directly addressing Vijayendra.

"Mr. Vijayendra, can you even win a single seat in Kolar and Chikkaballapur districts on your own?" he challenged.

Sudhakar accused Vijayendra of making unilateral appointments within the party. "Vijayendra appointed Sandeep as the district President of Chikkaballapur. He has filled crucial roles—District President, State Secretary, State General Secretary, and State Vice President—based solely on his personal choices. I feel deeply let down by his actions," he alleged.

He further criticized the internal electoral process in the BJP. “Elections are being held within the party, and nominations for district Presidents have commenced. These elections should be conducted democratically. However, in Chikkaballapur and other districts, no elections have taken place. You only want individuals who say ‘yes’ to you," he remarked.

“You (Vijayendra) ascended to the state President position through manipulation. The entire election process for the state President’s role has been tainted. I have not yet brought these issues to the attention of your father, Yediyurappa. The entire party is dissatisfied with the current situation," he claimed.

"He (Vijayendra) fails to consult anyone. He may possess vast wealth, but his supporters worked to ensure my defeat. He didn’t even have the decency to inform me before appointing the district President. He overlooks my calls. National President J.P. Nadda responds to appointments with merely a message, yet Vijayendra has canceled meetings three times after scheduling them. Are you attempting to undermine us in our own strongholds?" Sudhakar asked.

"I am exasperated, and I will not remain quiet. What have you done to senior leaders like C.T. Ravi, Basavaraj Bommai, and Ramesh Jarkiholi? As state President, you barely won from a BJP stronghold—thanks to adjustment politics. The outcome would have been different if another candidate had been fielded. We all know your sources. He may bring in funds through real estate, but that doesn’t hold weight in politics. I will personally meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to highlight these issues," Sudhakar warned.

“You may be Yediyurappa’s son, but you cannot equate yourself to him. Vijayendra engages in a politics of enmity. Are you harboring resentment against me solely because I worked closely with then-CM Basavaraj Bommai?” he questioned.

“If this situation persists, it becomes a matter of our survival, and I will have to take action. Vijayendra is on a trajectory to dismantle the party. His arrogance is the root cause, and I will urge the high command to either alter his mindset or replace him. Several MPs have confided their concerns to me. Soon, we will showcase our collective strength," he stated.

Amidst increasing calls for his replacement as state BJP chief, B.Y. Vijayendra remarked last Thursday that clarity will emerge soon.

"Our workers have shown gratitude for my efforts. It’s natural for a few to express discontent, but their dissatisfaction does not stem from my leadership. We function within a democratic framework. Elections for district President positions are in progress, and elections for the state President's position will also be conducted. There will be appropriate responses to all concerns in the forthcoming days."
