BJP MLA in Bengaluru Targeted in Egg Assault; FIR Filed

Bengaluru, Dec 26 (NationPress) The Karnataka Police have initiated an FIR concerning the egg assault on BJP MLA N. Munirathna Naidu in Bengaluru. In his report, MLA Munirathna alleged that this incident was part of a conspiracy aimed at attacking and potentially murdering him.

On the day of the incident, law enforcement apprehended three individuals at the scene. Additionally, a counter-complaint was filed regarding an assault by a group.

Following the incident, MLA Munirathna was hospitalized, where he claimed that the eggs thrown at him contained acid and harmful chemicals.

After being released from the hospital, he stated that the doctors had prescribed medications for him.

When questioned about the presence of acid in the eggs used during the attack, he responded: "The Police Department is behaving like a puppet, and I will discuss this in detail at the press conference."

Commenting on the situation, senior Congress leader Hanumantarayappa from Bengaluru remarked: "MLA Munirathna is a despicable individual who will go to any lengths. He is embroiled in rape allegations and is accused of attempting to infect his opponents with HIV through honey trapping. This act is merely a diversion from those serious charges."

He continued: "Initially, Munirathna denied that the voice in an audio recording—where he allegedly used derogatory language against the Vokkaliga community—was his. However, a report from the Forensic Science Laboratory confirmed it was indeed his voice. Now that he faces rejection from various quarters, he is staging this drama to divert attention."

In response to these developments, Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka stated: "Let the Police Department investigate the matter thoroughly. Our MLAs are continually targeted. If there is an attempt to distract from the issue, it will be uncovered during the investigation. It is inappropriate to comment before the probe is concluded."

He added: "Let the Congress leaders conduct their own investigation and present the findings. Why do we need the police in this case?"

An egg was thrown at Munirathna in Bengaluru on Wednesday, leading him to accuse Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar of orchestrating the incident.

The attack occurred while Munirathna, along with a significant group of supporters, attended an event in Laxmidevinagar of RR Nagar Constituency to commemorate the 100th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

In a statement to the media, Munirathna asserted: "Deputy CM Shivakumar and his brother, former Congress MP D. K. Suresh, attacked me because they aim to install local Congress leader Kusuma Hanumantarayappa as the MLA in my constituency."

It is noteworthy that Munirathna was previously incarcerated due to a rape and honey-trapping case and was released on bail after spending a month in the Central Prison in Bengaluru.
