Mumbai, March 25 (NationPress) BJP MLA Ram Kadam issued a warning on Tuesday that any studio in Maharashtra allowing stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra to perform would face bulldozer action should any illegal construction be discovered on its grounds.

Kadam accused Kamra of making controversial remarks with political support, suggesting that he is backed by Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray.

This statement followed Kamra's refusal to apologize for labeling Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde a 'traitor'.

The situation intensified after the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) conducted a demolition drive against illegal structures at The Habitat Club in the Unicontinental Hotel, the site of Kamra's performance.

In response to the demolition, Kadam told IANS, 'This is the arrogance of a foolish person who makes such statements merely for publicity. The studio where he made these comments has been bulldozed. If any other studio in Maharashtra permits him to perform and illegal construction is uncovered, it too will face demolition.'

The dispute originated when Kamra uploaded a video on YouTube featuring a satirical act where he altered a song from the Bollywood film Dil To Pagal Hai.

He changed the lyrics to, 'Meri nazar se tum dekho to gaddar nazar wo aaye. Haaye,' directed at Shinde. While the audience found it humorous, it infuriated the ruling Shiv Sena faction led by Shinde.

Labeling Kamra as 'anti-Constitutional,' Kadam remarked, 'This individual speaks out against the Prime Minister, the Home Minister, and even the judiciary. These elements are anti-constitutional. Legal action will be initiated against him. If he performs in any studio in Maharashtra, any illegal construction will be bulldozed.'

Kadam further asserted that Kamra's remarks were politically driven.

'He is making these comments because he has taken a 'supari' (contract) from Uddhav Thackeray. That’s why both father and son (Uddhav and Aditya Thackeray) are supporting him, speaking as if they are his spokespersons.'

In a critique of Thackeray, Kadam stated, 'Uddhav Thackeray has decimated his own party due to his affection for his son. Once, he had numerous MLAs, but just look at their current state. The true Shiv Sena stands with Eknath Shinde.
