Jaipur, May 15 (NationPress) A video clip featuring BJP MLA Balmukundacharya allegedly using the Tricolour to wipe sweat during a Tiranga Yatra in Jaipur has become a sensation online, drawing sharp backlash from the opposition Congress.
The yatra, arranged by the state BJP on Thursday to honor the Indian Forces for their success in Operation Sindoor, was inaugurated by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma at Albert Hall and ended at Badi Chaupad. It featured participation from BJP State President Madanlal Rathore, numerous ministers, MLAs, and a large crowd of party supporters.
During the event, Balmukundacharya, the BJP MLA representing Hawa Mahal, was reportedly seen wiping sweat from his brow with what appeared to be the national flag. This incident prompted public outrage and condemnation from political rivals, with Congress demanding decisive action against the MLA.
In a reaction on social media, Rajasthan Leader of the Opposition Tikaram Jully expressed his disapproval of the alleged act, stating, “The Tricolour symbolizes national pride, not a handkerchief. Such disrespect calls for an apology and accountability. This is not merely an affront to the Tricolour but also to the sacrifices made by our martyrs. The Tricolour represents the pride of our nation, not a mere handkerchief.”
He further condemned that the MLA wiped his nose with the same Tricolour for which brave soldiers laid down their lives.
“This is not just a double standard from the BJP; it is treason against our country and the Constitution. Today, we see the sacrifice of countless martyrs, who fought for this Tricolour, being insulted. Balmukundacharya must apologize,” he asserted.
In response to the outcry, Balmukundacharya refuted the claims, saying the item in question was a white and green silk handkerchief given to him by a party worker.
“It wasn’t the national flag. The Congress is intentionally spreading this video because the Tiranga Yatra was immensely successful, and they lack real issues to address,” he told the press.
This MLA has been involved in various controversies in the past, including a recent FIR accusing him of entering a mosque and raising slogans.
Despite the backlash, the yatra was marked by enthusiastic participation from diverse groups, with attendees waving the Tricolour and chanting slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai,” accompanied by patriotic music.
Local businessmen and residents showered flower petals to welcome the procession.
In a gesture of unity, members of the Muslim community rolled out a red carpet outside Jama Masjid in Johri Bazaar to honor the rally.
Chants of ‘Pakistan Murdabad’ echoed as demonstrators expressed their strong opposition to terrorism, proudly holding the Tricolour and reaffirming their commitment to national unity and security.
