Kolkata, Oct 28 (NationPress) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Khagen Murmu, who suffered significant injuries during an assault earlier this month, has departed for AIIMS Delhi on Tuesday to receive advanced medical care.

The MP from Maldaha Uttar, who is experiencing ongoing issues with his vision and speech, was accompanied by his wife, Manju Murmu. She accused the ruling Trinamool Congress of orchestrating the attack by goons, stating her intent to meet with the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister to seek justice.

The couple boarded the Agartala-Delhi Rajdhani Express from Malda Town station around 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

Before leaving, Khagen Murmu spoke to the media, saying: "It is difficult for me to talk. My diet consists of liquid food, and I have impaired vision, particularly in my left eye. I am traveling to AIIMS in Delhi for improved treatment."

Manju expressed her frustration over the lack of justice for the attack. “So far, we have not received any justice. I plan to go to Delhi to meet with the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister to demand accountability for the attack carried out by Trinamool-affiliated goons. I will also file a complaint against the state’s Chief Minister,” she stated.

She further disclosed that her husband's health remains critical. “He suffers from blurred vision, has eight loose teeth—some of which are broken. His face has sustained serious injuries,” Manju added.

Since the attack earlier this month, Murmu has been receiving treatment at a private hospital in Siliguri, North Bengal. He and BJP MLA Shankar Ghosh were assaulted by a mob while distributing relief materials in the flood-affected regions of Nagrakata in Jalpaiguri district.

Witnesses reported that a large group hurled stones, sticks, and shoes at the BJP leaders. The mob allegedly gathered stones from a nearby river and targeted Murmu’s vehicle. As a result, the MP suffered severe facial injuries and lost a significant amount of blood before being rushed to the hospital with Ghosh.

The incident has led to widespread outcry from BJP officials, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who condemned the attack.

In response, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited the injured MP at the hospital to inquire about his condition.

Authorities have arrested six individuals in connection with the assault, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
