Surat, April 10 (NationPress) - Gujarat Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Co-Spokesperson and Valsad MP Dhaval Patel has criticized Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar for his recent comments, labeling him as the "head of the 'tukde-tukde gang' at JNU". Patel connected Kumar's statements to a pattern of derogatory remarks by Opposition leaders regarding Gujaratis.
The controversy arose during a rally held by Kanhaiya Kumar in Bongaigaon, Assam, where he made a veiled reference to Union Home Minister Amit Shah while discussing issues of infiltration and governance.
"Upon my arrival, I was informed by a journalist that infiltration is a concern here. I responded that the most significant infiltrator originates from Gujarat, and he will be expelled alongside (Assam Chief Minister) Himanta Biswa Sarma," Kumar stated at the rally.
In response to Kumar's accusations, Dhaval Patel remarked to IANS, "This is not the first instance of such a statement. Recently, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge called Gujaratis illiterate and foolish, highlighting the deep-seated animosity the Congress has towards the 6.5 crore Gujaratis."
Patel accused the Opposition of harboring sympathies for infiltrators, asserting that such comments reveal their overarching ideological stance.
He stated, "Kanhaiya Kumar has connections with the 'tukde-tukde gang' at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). His remarks stem from an ideology that seeks to fracture India into separate states—Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Assam, and Jharkhand. The Congress and the Opposition stand in support of infiltrators," Patel articulated.
Furthermore, Patel referenced previous remarks from Opposition leaders, noting, "Just recently, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, claimed in Assam that Gujaratis are scammers. Mahua Moitra from Trinamool Congress asserted that Gujaratis did not contribute to the freedom movement. This contempt arises because for the last 30 years, the people of Gujarat have consistently rejected Congress and its anti-national and anti-development ideologies."
He concluded, "Individuals like Kanhaiya Kumar protest in favor of infiltrators, which reflects not only on Prime Minister Modi but also on Kumar's anti-Gujarati perspective."
Kanhaiya Kumar's comments follow a recent incident where Congress President Kharge ignited controversy with his remarks about the people of Gujarat during a rally in Kerala, for which he later issued an apology.
